VIVALDI: Summer from The Four Seasons

PIAZZOLLA: Summer from Four Seasons of Buenos Aires
Christina Bouey, violin
STRAVINSKY: The Firebird Suite (Chamber orchestra version)
This orchestral celebration has taken on an entirely new meaning from when we first created our 2020-2021 Season. Now we have even more reason to be grateful as we come together as an orchestra for the first time since March 2020.
To safely accommodate as many in-person audience members as we can, we will offer this program twice. If you sign up to attend in person, please be sure to select the time you prefer, and note if you would be willing to switch to the alternate time, if needed.
We open the program with The Holberg Suite, one of the most beloved string orchestra pieces in the repertoire. CCO concertmaster Christina Bouey helps us welcome the warmer months with these two very distinct interpretations of “Summer” by Vivaldi and Piazzolla. Each is completely engaging in its own way. And while many people have heard The Firebird Suite, this incredible version for chamber orchestra is less well-known, but every bit as powerful. Join us as we gratefully and enthusiastically welcome back our Music Director to the podium for this final performance of the season. Be sure to sign up soon if you want to attend in person… seating will be limited!
*Please note, this program was revised from what was published in the season brochure. We hope to incorporate the original music into a future season.
We are grateful to the sponsors of this performance:

What Should I Expect at a Concert?
— Each ticket can be used to attend in-person (pending capacity limits) OR you can join the concert via livestream.
— Physical distancing (6 ft minimum) and face masks will be required at all CCO concerts.
— Shorter programs (usually about 60 minutes) with no intermission.
— General admission seating so you can more easily observe physical distancing guidelines.
All tickets must be reserved in advance (though you may pay at the door). Ticket sales at the door will be temporarily suspended since we need to track the number of in-person audience members to ensure we stay within the permitted capacity max at each venue.
