Anthony Bracewell, from Windsor Ontario, began his studies at the age of five. He received his bachelor’s degree in violin performance in 2013 from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he studied with violin pedagogues Jaime Laredo and Paul Kantor.  Additionally, he has a master of music degree in violin performance from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University and Juilliard. Bracewell is now pursuing a Master’s degree in viola performance at the Juilliard School as a student of Paul Neubauer.  Bracewell has studied advanced musical analysis and ear training, as well as Dalcroze Eurythmics, music production, and sound engineering. In 2010 Bracewell formed the Contranuities Quartet an ensemble committed to pushing the boundaries of classical music and acoustic instruments into folk and jazz genres. As a teenager, Bracewell served as the Concertmaster of the Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra, working with renowned artists such as Sir Andrew Davis, Midori, Itzhak Perlman, Leonard Slatkin, and Yo-Yo Ma. He was a grand prize winner in the 2008 St. Paul National String Quartet Competition as well as a recipient of the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist award from the NPR National radio show, “From the Top.”  He has been a winner of the Cleveland Institute of Music concerto competition, and is also a winner of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s Civic Ensembles concerto competition. Bracewell has soloed with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra, the CIM Orchestra and numerous chamber ensembles.  As a violist, Bracewell has served as the principal violist of the Shepherd School of Music Symphony Orchestra.  Concert engagements have led him around the world to venues from underground pubs in Europe to Carnegie Hall. In 2011 he served as Assistant Concertmaster of the New York String Orchestra Seminar in Carnegie Hall, and in the past year has been invited to perform as Concertmaster of the Geneva Light Opera Company, principal violist of the Salomé Chamber Orchestra, principal second violin of the South Florida Symphony Orchestra, as well as a frequent guest of the Shattered Glass ensemble. In 2018 he became a member of the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra.
