Melissa Whitehead Stucky

Violist Melissa Whitehead Stucky studied at Baylor University where she received a Bachelor of Music degree in viola performance. She pursued Master’s studies at the Manhattan School of Music with the late Lillian Fuchs and in 1985-86 with Rosemary Nalden in London. A long-time resident of Ithaca and a member of the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra since 1987, she is Principal Viola of the Tri-Cities Opera, has appeared with the Syracuse Symphony, the Society for New Music in Syracuse, New York, and the Binghamton Symphony Orchestra as well many other area ensembles. She has performed frequently in CCO chamber concerts, with recent repertoire including Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet, Schumann’s Fairytales for Clarinet, Viola and Piano, and the Prokofieff Quintet, Opus 39, for Violin, Viola, Double Bass, Oboe and Clarinet. Ms. Stucky currently serves as Personnel Manager for Tri-Cities Opera in Binghamton.
