Kelsey Stewart
Second Oboe
“I am so excited to be a part of the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra! I look forward to working with wonderful colleagues to provide excellent music to Ithaca and the surrounding community.“
Kelsey Stewart is an active orchestral performer, chamber musician, and music educator. In addition to serving as Second Oboe with the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, she regularly performs with the Eastman Philharmonia and Wind Ensemble, and has appeared in concerts with the Rochester Philharmonic, Dearborn Symphony, and Michigan Philharmonic Orchestras. She frequently plays with the Ossia New Music Ensemble, and loves giving outreach concerts with the Eastman Reed Quintet. You can hear her playing on two of the University of Michigan Symphony Band’s recent albums entitled “Reflections” and “Poetics.”
As a dedicated and vivacious teacher, Ms. Stewart maintains a private studio of young oboists and teaches the oboe methods course at the Eastman School of Music. She has been on faculty at the MPulse Summer Performing Arts Institute and Operation O.B.O.E. Camp, and puts her music education degree to work by substitute teaching in local school districts.
Originally from Colorado, Stewart now resides in Rochester where she attends the Eastman School of Music and studies with Richard Killmer. She also holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, where she studied with Nancy Ambrose King.
