A Tribute to the Times

Saturday, March 20, 2021

6:00 pm - 9:00 pm Ford Hall, Ithaca College

Performance 1 @ 6:00pm
Performance 2 @ 8:00pm

COPLAND: Quiet City
MILHAUD: Le boeuf sur le toit, Op 58
HAYDN: Symphony No. 94 in G Major “Surprise”

As we consider everything we’ve been through collectively, we wanted to feature a meaningful, introspective piece to mark our return as a full orchestra. That led us to Quiet City. A little humor and levity can go a long way in challenging times and Milhaud provides both in Le boeuf sur le toit (The Ox on the Roof). Haydn, the “Father of the Symphony,” offers his own brand of humor with a perfectly titled symphony for these times. This is one “surprise” we can all welcome.

To create more comfortable and safer seating options, we’re offering this program twice. Join us for this powerful one-hour performance at either 6:00pm or 8:00pm.

We are grateful to the sponsors of this performance:

What Should I Expect at a Concert?
— Each ticket can be used to attend in-person (pending capacity limits) OR you can join the concert via livestream.
— Physical distancing (6 ft minimum) and face masks will be required at all CCO concerts.
— Shorter programs (usually about 60 minutes) with no intermission.
— General admission seating so you can more easily observe physical distancing guidelines.

All tickets must be reserved in advance (though you may pay at the door).  Ticket sales at the door will be temporarily suspended since we need to track the number of in-person audience members to ensure we stay within the permitted capacity max at each venue.
