A Tribute to Percy
Saturday, March 20, 2021
7:30 pm First Presbyterian Church
IMPORTANT UPDATE
(posted Feb 18, 2021)
This concert date was originally intended to feature an Orchestral Series program. Due to venue limitations and the need to prioritize the health and safety of both our audience and our musicians, we will delay bringing the entire orchestra together until later in the season. We are honored to bring you this special program instead, as a tribute to our dear friend, the extraordinary Percy Browning.
This concert is dedicated to the memory of Percy Browning, one of the CCO’s most dedicated and ardent supporters. As a long-time subscriber, a former Board President, a guest artist, and a leading fundraiser, we only begin to scratch the surface of the many hats she wore for the CCO over the decades. With this diverse array of composers and works, the CCO offers a tribute to her passionate advocacy for modern music and women composers.
ETHEL SMITH: String Quintet in E Major, Op 1 (Allegro molto)
DANA WILSON: Hungarian Folk Songs (selections)
FLORENCE PRICE: String Quartet in G Major (Andante Moderato)
REBECCA CLARK: Two Pieces for Viola and Cello
BILLIE HOLIDAY & ARTHUR HERZOF, JR: God Bless The Child
JEROME KERN & DOROTHY FIELDS: The Way You Look Tonight
CLARICE ASSAD: Ropapião
JESSIE MONTGOMERY: Strum
Christina Bouey, violin
Susan Waterbury, violin
Victoria Miskolczy, viola
Rosemary Elliott, cello
Max Michael Jacob, bass
Please note: This date was originally going to have two performance times. With the revised program, there will now be just one performance at 7:30pm.
We are grateful to the sponsors of this performance:

What Should I Expect at a Concert?
— Each ticket can be used to attend in-person (pending capacity limits) OR you can join the concert via livestream.
— Physical distancing (6 ft minimum) and face masks will be required at all CCO concerts.
— Shorter programs (usually about 60 minutes) with no intermission.
— General admission seating so you can more easily observe physical distancing guidelines.
All tickets must be reserved in advance (though you may pay at the door). Ticket sales at the door are temporarily suspended since we need to track the number of in-person audience members to ensure we stay within the permitted capacity max at each venue.
