Sarah Cummings (Howard and Robin Hess Memorial Chair) has been holding a violin since the age of four and earned music degrees from Ithaca College and Northwestern University. Active in the upstate New York area as a freelance musician, she has performed regularly with local organizations such as Music’s Recreation and Women’s Works and is featured on the album Fiddlespel: Dance Music of Scandinavia. She is a passionate student and teacher of the Suzuki method and is the assistant director of the Ithaca Talent Education School, as well as co-director for the summer Ithaca Suzuki Institute. A devoted member of the CCO since 1998, she has served on numerous committees and worked as the music librarian for 15 years. She is currently on the Board of Directors and is the program coordinator for the Willard Daetsch Youth Outreach Program, as well as co-founder of the CCO Youth Orchestra in 2017.
