Kim Dunnick, Principal Trumpet
Shirley O. Hockett Chair
“The CCO is a group of musicians who come together to make music, not just make a dollar. And the orchestra plays at a level far beyond what might be expected from a group of musicians who get together for only four or five concerts a year, in a small town that’s a 4-hour drive from NYC. Come and give a concert a try… you’ll enjoy listening as much as we enjoy playing.“
A former member of The United States Army Band, (Washington, D.C.), the Knoxville Symphony, the Elmira Symphony, and The Brasswind, Kim Dunnick has also performed with the Syracuse Symphony, the Binghamton Symphony, The B.C. Pops, the Skaneateles Festival Orchestra, the Hof (Germany) Symphoniker, and for ten years, was principal/solo trumpet of the Victoria Bach Festival Orchestra.
Dr. Dunnick has performed as a guest artist and/or clinician in Sweden, Ireland, England, Russia, Australia, Switzerland, Brazil, France, Slovenia, China, Germany and Ukraine and has been on the international panel of judges for the Vassily Brandt International Trumpet Competition in Saratov, Russia (1996), the Kiev International Trumpet Competition in Ukraine (1998), and the Moscow International Trumpet Competition (2000) as well as the National Trumpet Competition in Washington, D.C. (numerous years). He has presented master classes at such venues as the Royal Northern Academy of Music in Manchester, England, the Tchaikovsky National Academy of Ukraine (Kiev), the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China, the Gnessin’s Academy in Moscow, Russia and at The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.
