Violinist Jonathan Hwang, a native of Portland, OR, currently performs as a member of Symphoria (Syracuse, NY) since 2015 and recently won a position with the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra which will begin in September 2017. As a soloist, he has performed with the Portland (OR) Festival Symphony and the Metropolitan Youth Symphony. The Oregonian has described him as “Charming and poised, he had a commanding presence, intense focus and a bow arm that lent loads of nuance.”
Mr. Hwang holds a Bachelor’s of Music degree from the University of Rochester’s Eastman School of Music, where he studied with Robin Scott, Oleh Krysa and Lynn Blakeslee. He has been invited to participate in prestigious music festivals such as the Aspen Music Festival, Round Top Music Festival, the National Repertory Orchestra and the Brevard Music festival.
